Young Professionals Group

Our Young Professionals Group (YPG) is a member-based organization comprised of more than 125 community-minded individuals who are committed to Read. Lead. Serve. the next generation. Through service and social events and signature literacy initiatives, such as Barbara’s Book Boxes, they are building a cross-sector volunteer network to bridge the gap in access to resources in high-need schools and neighborhoods.

Meet Grace Gosnell

Former Young Professionals Group Chair and 2023 Storybook Gala Chair Grace Gosnell began her volunteer journey during college when she helped a nonprofit match students who struggled academically with trained tutors. As Grace was involved in the program, she grew to love working with students and watching the progress in their learning journey.

After her graduation and return to Houston, she brought her volunteering ambitions with her. The discovery of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Young Professionals Group aligned with her personal mission of helping others.

Story of Impact

Young Professionals Group President Caitlin Rance reflects on the YPG’s impact in 2023.

“The socials and service opportunities have enabled me to connect with other young professionals and form lifelong friendships, while making a difference in the lives of those we serve.”

— Monica Lunsford, Social Co-Chair
